How To Prevent Morning Breath
Morning breath, the dreaded odor that greets others as you greet the day. The embarrassing oral odor is caused by a buildup of bacteria in the mouth. Those bacteria produce Volatile Sulfur Compounds (VSCs) when they feed on the food remnants left in the mouth after eating. When you sleep less saliva is generated, so there is less saliva to flush away the bacteria. This allows an overgrowth of aerobic bacteria (which require oxygen for growth), exposing the anaerobic bacteria (which do not require oxygen for growth) that produce bad breath.
